Wonder Woman Headlines DC Movies Set To Hit The Big Screen

Look out, Marvel: DC Comics isn’t planning to take a back seat to your big screen efforts. Over the next year, DC is set to roll out several big-budget blockbusters they’ve been planning for some time now.

First up is the much-anticipated and much-ballyhooed Wonder Woman film. The movie was first alluded to in Batman v Superman.

Set for release June 2, the film that will truly bring the Amazon Princess to life stars Gal Gadot, who has already shaken up the Silver Screen alongside the Dark Knight and the Man of Steel. Helmed by director Patty Jenkins, this film looks to be the groundbreaker that could very well herald an influx of female heroes to cinemas everywhere.

Next up will be Justice League Part 1–again strongly hinted at in the movie that saw the epic struggle between Batman and Superman. This film, earmarked for the screen on Nov. 17, will feature Gadot’s Wonder Woman, along with Ben Affleck’s Batman, Henry Cavill’s Superman, Ray Fisher’s Cyborg, Ezra Miller’s Flash and Jason Momoa’s Aquaman. Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) and Jeremy Irons (Alfred Pennyworth) will also make reprise their respective roles in this team-up film.

Then the Scarlet Speedster, The Flash, will make the transition from team to solo adventure next March, with Ezra Miller donning the running shoes and writer/director Rick Famuyiwa leading the actors.

Aquaman, again with Momoa starring as the King of Atlantis, will hit movie theaters next October, with Amber Heard slated to be his queen and love interest, Mera. Director James Wan leads the cast through this watery adventure.

Finally, Shazam (aka Captain Marvel) zooms into theaters on April 5, 2019–so save your pennies for that one. Why? Because Dwayne Johnson (aka The Rock) has signed on to portray the villainous Black Adam–and how bad can that be?
