Orisa Overwatch

Meet Overwatch’s Newest Hero, Orisa

Written by | Gaming, News

Overwatch’s 24th hero has been revealed to be Orisa, an Omnic tank character with a centaur-like body. She’s available to try out right now for PC players using the PTR. There’s no word from Blizzard yet on when she’ll make her console debut, but considering previous heroes transition time, I’m sure she’ll arrive shortly.

Efi Oladele, an 11-year old robotic genius created Orisa using various bits of scrap found throughout Numbani. Orisa has a unique set of abilities that replicate other various other Overwatch heroes:

Fortify — Orisa temporarily reduces damage she takes, and cannot be affected by action-impairing effects.
Halt! — Orisa launches a graviton charge which she can detonate, slowing nearby enemies and pulling them towards the explosion.
Protective Barrier — Orisa throws out a stationary barrier that can protect her and her allies from enemy fire.
Supercharger — Orisa deploys a device to increase damage inflicted by allies within her line of sight.

Jeff Kaplan has stated that Orisa’s canon gives her weapon the largest range of any tank in the game so far.  Surely, Orisa is going to be quite a deadly addition to Overwatch’s roster. If you want to learn more about her, Blizzard has posted two videos outlining her origin and playstyle.

Additionally, the Orisa update will bring a small nerf to the recently buffed defense character Bastion.

You can currently play around with the whole update on Overwatch’s Public Test Realm.
