Rumor: Everything Just Leaked On Nintendo Switch

Written by | News

The Nintendo Direct featuring new information on Nintendo Switch will be happening on January 12th, but professional leaker, Laura Kate Dale decided that might be too long a wait for most fans. On December 27th, Laura Kate Dale, who’s leaked Switch details before, conducted an AmA(Ask me Anything) on the Nintendo Switch Subreddit. She covered a variety of topics regarding what we might find on the upcoming Switch console. We’ve compiled a list below of the major points she mentioned in her AmA. Remember to take everything she says here lightly. Laura Kate Dale is just the messenger for rumors she hears, nothing more.

  • Laura was asked about voice-chat, before she was going to answer she asked if she could say anything due to OBE1 releasing a video detailing it out soon.
  • There will be no friend codes, DeNA is helping Nintendo with the networking.
  • Miiverse is returning. Screenshots and videos can be posted there via the “share” button on the Switch.
  • Purchases will be tied to your MyNintendo Account, not a system

  • Launch Line Up: 3D Mario, Mario Raving Rabbids RPG, Splatoon Port, Skyrim
  • Breath of the Wild will Be a Summer Release
  • Laura was asked if there was the possibility of Red Dead Redemption 2 or Overwatch coming to the Switch. Regarding Red Dead, she stated that there’s almost no way it’s going to happen due to Rockstar’s relationship with Nintendo. She assures that Overwatch wouldn’t be there at launch, and the two stated that it would require a massively overhauled port due to the ‘always-online’ nature of the title.
  • Assassin’s Creed Egypt Will Launch Simultaneously on Switch, PS4, and Xbox one
  • Rayman Rabbids RPG will be a 3rd Party Switch Exclusive
  • Mario Kart, Splatoon, and Smash will release on Switch as enhanced ports. There will be extensive changes to Mario Kart and Minimal ones to Smash
  • Only expect three virtual console Gamecube games at launch, they will be optimized for their original resolutions.
  • 20+ new Pokemon for the rumored Pokemon Sun & Moon port on Switch; however Tom Phillips of Eurogamer, who initially leaked the port, doesn’t think this is likely
  • Rayman Rabbids RPG will be a 3rd Party Switch Exclusive

  • The system will have Bluetooth, not sure to what extent.
  • The Joy-Cons will be available to be purchased separately at launch date. Docks will be purchasable after 6 months and will be ‘cheap’.
  • There’s a record button on the left Joy-Con.
  • The right Joy-Con has an IR pointer akin to the Wiimote, this will allow touch-screen functionalities while docked.
  • There won’t be a bundle that includes the Pro Controller, they will be purchasable separately.
  • Pro Controler has some motion controls

  • Switch is Region Free
  • $250 USD entry price
  • March 17th Release Date for Switch
  • Don’t expect a delay for the Nintendo Switch.
  • Small fee to upgrade virtual console library
  • The battery will last around 3 hours with everything at maximum.
  • The charging port is USB and will easily and quickly charge the system.
  • At launch, there will only be one color of the Switch, and it will be the default gray. However, there’s a slight chance that there will be multiple colors after launch.
  • The entry bundle for the switch will have 32GB of onboard storage, Micro SD card support will extend to 128 GB.
  • Multiple dev kits are out in the wild right now. The dev kit that went out in October is more powerful than the dev kit from July.
